Abyssinian Cat Breed Profile

Temperament: Abyssinians are gentle, loving, and quiet creatures. They are also highly active and very intelligent, they can be taught to perform tricks. Also they are very agile and like plenty of space, whether it is indoors or outdoors.


Care: Daily grooming is required for this breed and exercise is equally important.


General Information: Abyssinians are an extremely beautiful and colorful cat with a distinct agouti (flecks) coat. It is the agouti flecking that gives the Abyssinians the attractive wildcat look. They are of medium size, lithe, very beautiful in appearance, eager, high activity and abundant interest in its surroundings.


This breed is a loveable attentive, intelligent cat, very people orientated, extremely active and he thrives on interaction and play. They are not constant lap cats; they are very nosy, needing to know what you are doing at all times. They are likely to follow you around and help you to make your bed, eat your lunch or even while taking a shower, in fact they insist on being included in all family activities as a right.


Abyssinians like to be completed involved with the family doings and activities. It is for this reason that this breed isn’t ideal for someone that may not appreciate his higher level of activity therefore annoying.
