Burmese Cat Breed Profile
Temperament: Burmese enjoy human contact, they are very inquisitive, and this makes for an affectionate companion. Adaptable to both indoor and outdoor life, they require plenty of activity, play and exercise.
Care: Daily grooming is required to keep the coat shiny, exercise is equally important as well.
General Information: Burmese breeds are very strong, athletic and elegant shorthaired cat that carries surprising weight for its size and has often been described as a "brick wrapped in silk." They are compact cats with a small round head and wide-set eyes that are yellow or golden; the tail is tapered.
They have a fine, close, satin like texture, glossy coat. Males mature to large size while the females are more delicate and graceful, the difference in weight may be two or three pounds.
As kittens, Burmese are rather lively and can be hyper. They often seem clumsy, as they will attempt feats beyond their capabilities and land on their rears. As they mature, they will continue to be hyper and playful. As the Burmese grows, their high intelligence will begin to emerge and their own individual personalities start to develop.
Although, the Burmese is an ideal family pet for children and older people, those whom want a less interactive companion, one that will spend a majority of his time relaxing, this breed is not the right choice for your family.
Importantly, the social nature of this breed does require they need constant company, human and feline. Toys are not a sufficient replacement for companionship. Many times with this breed it is best try and adopt another cat from the same liter.
