Temperament: Himalayan’s are very similar to the Persian cat breed. They are affectionate, tranquil, quiet and loving. Himalayans are loving pets for the most part, however they adapt better in surroundings that don’t have a lot of noise, children and other pets.

Care: Himalayans require frequent grooming and bathing due to their thick fur. This helps to prevent knots and tangles.

General Information: The history of the Himalayan breed is well known and documented throughout time. Experimental breeding of Himalayans began in the United States and England as far back as the 1920's when the Persian and Siamese breeds were bred together, however actual recognition, as a purebred wasn’t recognized until 1957 in USA.

Himalayans have similar coloring to the Siamese; a cream colored body with colorpoints of a darker color on the face, ears, paws, and full tail in proportion to body length. One of the Himalayans most striking characteristics is their vivid blue eye color.

They are a larger breed of cat with a short stocky body, short legs, medium tail, and a round head with a short muzzle and small round ears. They have an exceptionally long, thick and silky coat that requires frequent grooming.
