General Appearance: Active, compact, short coupled and squarely built dog of medium size. Wrinkles over skull and withers, small ears and " hippopotamus " muzzle impart to the Shar Pei a unique look. Dogs larger and more powerful than bitches.
Classification: Group 2 Pinscher and Schnauzer, Molossians and Swiss Mountain-and Cattledogs.
Origin: China
Temperament: Calm, independent and devoted to the family. Moreover, these dogs are very enduring, noble and wise. Shar Pei truly enjoys human company, especially children – they can play with them for hours and stand any liberties the children might take. Shar Pei is extremely patient and discreet. They are never aggressive without an obvious cause.
Height: Males range from 18-20 inches and females range from 17-20 inches
